Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to say thank you to our Mothers who have raised us, been there for us and taught us to be compassionate.

Showering her in vegan love – which is kind to her and animal mothers who are often exploited for their products – is the perfect way to show her how much you appreciate her.

Here’s everything you need to have the ultimate vegan Mother’s Day!

Gift Ideas

If you want to give your mother a gift, you can support Viva!’s campaigns at the same time by buying from our shop! Win, win. Here are our top picks.

Foxsimile Necklace – £24.00

Fox necklace

This beautiful enamel pendant is the perfect gift for your animal-loving mum.  It demonstrates your affection for her and allows her to celebrate this gorgeous animal every day.

Please Be Nice to Animals T-Shirt – £16.99

This lovely slogan t-shirt is perfect for wearing your heart on your sleeve this Mother’s Day. It’s ethically made and designed to last, so you can avoid fast-fashion whilst treating your mum.

Booja Booja truffles – £12.99

If your mum is a chocolate lover, we’re sure she’ll love these award-winning truffles just as much as you love her! Not to mention, dairy cows’ motherhood is exploited for dairy chocolates and other products, making the gift even more meaningful at this time of year.

Activity Ideas

If you want to do something special to celebrate Mother’s Day, we’ve compiled our top list of things to do for the best day any mum could ask for.

Cook a delicious vegan meal

Why not give your mum a relaxing day, by cooking her a delicious meal from our Vegan Recipe Club Mother’s Day recipes? Making her this luxurious menu will show her how much effort you’re willing to go to for her, and pay her back for all those school lunches and dinners she made you when you were growing up!

Pea & Mint Soup

This delicious pea and mint soup is the perfect way to start your Mother’s Day meal. It has a real depth of flavour with an amazing creamy texture. The pea and mint balance each other perfectly, but it’s the vegan buttermilk that takes it to the next level.

Leek, Mushroom and Blue ‘Cheese’ Quiche

This recipe proves you don’t need dairy, meat or eggs to make a lovely quiche. It has all the flavours of a classic quiche with none of the animal products, making it kind to all mothers this Mother’s Day. Pair it with a nice side salad for a perfect main course.

Sticky Toffee Pudding

What better way to finish off a home-cooked Mother’s Day than with this classic pudding. The moist sponge paired with rich sticky toffee sauce is a favourite with everyone who tries it – but don’t take our word for it, get the recipe here [hyperlink]

Take her for a vegan cream tea

Cream tea is the ultimate luxury day out, where you will be spoiled with delicious cakes and scones and beautiful sandwiches to go with your favourite tea. Lots of cafes have a vegan option now meaning you can have a compassionate Mother’s Day as well as a loving one. If you’re looking for a vegan café near you, visit My Vegan Town [hyperlink] to find one.

Get involved in our Nationwide Day of Action

If your mum is into vegan activism or you simply want to make a difference for animals on Mother’s Day, why not join one of our nationwide outreach events? So far there are Mother’s Day outreach events happening in Reading, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Bournemouth, Leicester and Cornwall and Bristol. If there isn’t one happening in your nearest city, you can host your own stall with our Mother’s Day outreach pack here.

Visit an animal sanctuary

If your mum is more outdoorsy and loves animals, a day out to an animal sanctuary is a great bonding experience for both of you. Lots of animal sanctuaries hold open days where you can meet the animals that live there. It’s a lovely way to spend one of the first days in spring, and you’ll help support the animal sanctuaries continue their important work!
